Project Description & Scope
The Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation centre is a public educational centre of the not-for-profit Manuels River Natural Heritage Society Inc. located on the banks of the Manuels River in Conception Bay South. The civil component of the project consisted of establishing the building floor elevations and site grades to blend into the natural landscape of Manuels River. Along with site grading, site servicing was designed as well.
Project Challenges
Due to the proximity of the site to the Manuels River, it was critical to ensure the building was protected from possible flooding. In additional to the establishment of the building floor elevations, ground water issues had to be addressed and an under-slab drainage system implemented.
