Project Description & Scope
During times of heavy rainfall the section of Dirty Brook between Main Road and Back Line flooded causing damage to abutting properties. An emergency overflow diversion was installed along Back Line that allows a small flow of approximately 1.0 cms to continue to flow down Dirty Brook with excess flows of approximately 8.2 cms being diverted to Cochrane Pond Brook via a new 2100 mm diameter concrete storm sewer.
Project Challenges
A concrete weir structure was designed to limit the flow to acceptable levels within Dirty Brook as private properties abut this watercourse and were subject to flooding. This was a critical aspect of the project and was the most economic and practical option for this particular application.
